Rich People Stay Rich by Living like They Are Broke and Broke People Stay Broke by Living like They Are Rich
It might have something to do with the human psychology or the default way our brain works, that we find some sort of comfort in owning a lot of material objects. Unless we learn how to control these urges, we will forever be slaves of our desires.
There is this persistent urge for them to keep buying together with a desire to keep upgrading their lifestyle with every small increase in income. They want to have the things they couldn’t afford before as soon as they can because they hunger for an improvement in their life, not understanding that the solution does not lie in upgrading their lifestyle.
Getting to spend more than you were capable of in the past grants a sense of satisfaction, but it is one that is short-lived. Frugal living is often seen in a bad light but in fact, it is one way to get out of financial struggles. However, contrary to popular belief, spending too much is a typical behavior not only for those born into poverty, but also to those who were born into wealth and even to those in the middle class – to seek for security of having more, and the pleasure of gaining ownership of something better than other people they personally know.
So when I say the “rich who live like they’re broke”, who exactly do I mean? I am referring to the people who has MADE themselves rich. Those who came from the lower or middle class and established success for themselves. These individuals are true masters of frugal living. They spent years and years learning and working for the best way out of their situation. It is one of the keys of achieving and maintaining wealth. Take care of your money and it will take care of you.
Instead of upgrading your lifestyle, think of upgrading the way you use your money. Save it and invest it. Let it grow, and let it work for you in the future. If you want to learn more about investments and proper money management, you can download a free copy of my e-book HERE.
