We Worry Too Much About the Future That We Forget TODAY Which is a Present We Should Enjoy
“Yesterday is history. Tomorrow is a mystery. Today is a gift. That’s why it’s called the present.”
The past is what has molded us into what we are now, and the things we do in the present is what determines our future. All of these three are important parts of our lives. However, most people are stuck either regretting the past or worrying about the future. Because of this, we often overlook thepresent and forget to make the most of it which is a big mistake. Every moment, every second, every hour, and every day comes only once.
We must have a vision and a goal as to where and what we want to be in the future, but going after these must not make us neglect the present. It’s so easy to get caught up in the process of building our future that we completely forget to live fully. We overlook the things that we should be making the most of right now and forget our priorities. There are things more important that money and one of these is our family.
When we put everything we have into building our future, the entire day is used up working which results to spending less and less time with our loved ones the more dedicated we get. Talking to elders will make you realize that this is the greatest mistake that you could possibly make. Most of the successful people I know, when asked of their greatest regret, would say that they wish they spent more time with their family. Children grow up fast it’s important for us to be there for our kids. Be a part of their joyous celebrations, support them during their lowest, and guide them as they figure out their lives. Our parents and grandparents aren’t getting any younger. Every moment we spend with them matters because whether we admit it or not, we know that they won’t be here with us forever and when the time comes only the memories will be left.
Another thing we tend to take for granted is our health. There is no sense in chasing after financial freedom if you neglect your health. Depriving ourselves of necessities is a health hazard. It may be necessary for you to save money for your investments but do it to an extent where you deprive yourself of the things your body needs. Always remember that your greatest asset is YOURSELF, including your body. If you cannot take care of this, then all your sacrifices will be for nothing. Working too much can also result to health issues, so everything must be kept on balance.
Regardless of what stage we are in life, we can absolutely benefit from learning how to live in the now and be as present as possible while still having long-term goals. One of the major causes of unhappiness is to not appreciate what we already have and focus all of our energy and effort toward what we don’t have. Live in the moment, give it your best. Take life one day at a time, and you will find it to be more fulfilling.
The older we get, the more we realize that the memories that we have created throughout the course of our lives are precious and that the journey is just as important as the destination. There is no better time to start living life to the fullest than right this moment. Agree?
Here’s to your success!
